🗓️ Day 1: Arba Minch – Konso – Jinka

Highlights: Konso Culture, Scenic Terraces, South Omo Museum

• Depart Arba Minch after breakfast and drive to Konso (UNESCO-listed).

• Visit a Konso village, known for:

  • Stone-walled terraces and fortified settlements.

  • The waka totems, carved wooden statues honoring ancestors.

• Continue to Jinka, the cultural hub of South Omo.

• Visit the South Omo Research Center and Museum to get an introduction to the local tribes.

Overnight: Eco Omo Lodge or similar – Jinka
Drive Time: ~6 hours (with stops)

🗓️ Day 2: Jinka – Mursi Tribe – Turmi

Highlights: Mursi Lip Plates, Hamar Culture

• Early morning drive through Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe:

  • Women are known for wearing clay lip plates and intricate scarification.

  • Men often display ceremonial body painting.

• Return to Jinka for lunch.

• Continue drive to Turmi, home of the Hamar people.

  • Optional: Attend a bull-jumping ceremony (if available), a rite of passage for young men.

  • Evening cultural exchange with locals (Evangadi dance).

🗓️ Day 3: Turmi – Omorate (Dassanech Tribe) – Turmi

• Drive south to Omorate, near the Kenyan border.

• Cross the Omo River by traditional canoe (or bridge, depending on season).

• Visit the Dassanech tribe:

  • Semi-nomadic pastoralists known for elaborate hairdos and body adornments.

• Return to Turmi.

  • Optional afternoon village walk or market visit (depending on day).

Highlights: Karo Body Painting, Weekly Tribal Market

• Morning drive to Karo Village at Kolcho overlooking the Omo River.

  • The Karo are famous for body painting, facial scarification, and decorative rituals.

• On the return, stop at the Dimeka market (if Saturday or Tuesday):

  • Colorful local market where Hamar, Benna, Tsemay, and Karo tribes gather.

• Drive back to Jinka.

Drive Time: ~5 hours

🗓️ Day 5: Jinka – Key Afer Market (Market Day) – Arba Minch

Highlights: Tsemay Tribe, Key Afer Market

• Morning departure for Key Afer (if Thursday – famous tribal market):

  • See Tsemay, Ari, and Benna tribes in vibrant dress and trade.

• Continue scenic drive back to Arba Minch through lush highlands and Rift Valley views.

• End of tour (overnight in Arba Minch or fly back to Addis Ababa – optional).

Drive Time: ~7 hours
